Take 27
Like most folks, 7 was my favorite number but I was most fascinated with the number 27. Birthdate being 27 seems to be the only reason.
Among various things I’m grateful for (which always feature in these reflections), I’m grateful for coming across Rohan Rajiv’s continued practice of writing birthday reflections. They were the inspiration for my own reflection posts. These have served as milestones in my life, which are harder to remember as years blur together.
Slowing down was what I had hoped for in last reflection which seems to have worked. A large part of the year was spent in long introspection periods. I also skipped attending most of my usual conferences and events and went around meeting family and friends instead. I did miss the chance of hanging out with my familiar faces (who I usually meet at these conferences) which was the hard part. Unsure if it will change or not in upcoming times.
A while back, I was having this discussion with a fren that we have hit that stage in life where some of our plans and commitments are going almost one and a half years out. I have a rough mental plan for most months in the upcoming year. This feels interesting and restricting at the same time. In recent times, quite a number of folks around me are either moving abroad for studies, are planning to get married or are making big life decisions.
A welcome change was taking a plunge into cooking. My mother had been asking me to learn cooking ever since I moved out. Now dinner on most days and some breakfast are prepared at home. Surprisingly, this has become a hot topic for my friends and family. Everyone has their own tips and tricks on cooking, which are quite helpful for me, so keep them coming.
Recent happenings in the world have certainly kept me worried. Even if I keep my eyes/mind off news for my own mental sanity, the world has certainly gone crazy. Unsure where we’ll end up as a society.
